Why aren’t my Tweets posting?

You’ve noticed that some of your tweets haven’t been posting? Sorry. That is not good.

As it turns out, Twitter made a little change sometime last week (as far as we can tell) whereby “A status update with text identical to the authenticating user’s current status will be ignored to prevent duplicates.” We imagine this was implemented to cut down on Twitter spammers.

So, a problem of late has been that when Twuffer encountered one of these duplicate tweets, Twitter stopped responding the way it used to. The change caused Twuffer to abort sending every subsequent tweet in the batch that hour. We’ve updated our script.

A word of warning: from now on, if the scheduled tweet Twuffer is trying to send for you is identical to your latest tweet, it WILL NOT be sent.

  1. That’s nice to know, but it still doesn’t solve the problem I asked you about on Twitter nearly two months ago.
    I scheduled a load of backdated tweets in February, to go back as far as mid-December. These are still in the queue. I’ve tried logging out and logging in again, rescheduling them, and there is nothing else I can do. (If there is, please tell me.)
    This is the one thing that’s holding up our launch of the business Twitter account now: if someone could contact me to sort this out, I’d be very grateful.

  2. I have the same problem. I scheduled two new tweets yesterday, to be published around 7 PM yesterday - they’re still not published. Something’s not working - and tweet-u-later seems to have the same problem.

    This seems to still be a problem - I scheduled tweets in for today and none of them actually got tweeted, I have manually done them as “Now” tweets so it looks like your problem is not resolved.

  4. I have a tweet that is the first one I will be sending from your system and perhaps the last. I scheduled it for 3 in the afternoon it is almost 4 here and nothing. Another Tweet that I put in to go out at 12 need went either and I erased that one. Any idea why this is happening.

  5. First time using twuffer and already dissapointed. I’m currently in Kazakhstan which means 10 hours ahead of Central US time. I was hoping to use your system to post things while it’s 4pm CST (2am my time) but when I woke up saw that nothing had been posted and it doesn’t appear in fail tab either.
    There are many other apps out there. Not using this again.
